Documents with Apostille from other country

Each country affixes Apostilles to its own documents

For example, a document issued by a German authority shall be apostilled only by the competent authorities of Germany, as Romanian documents can be apostilled only by the competent authorities of Romania.

If you are abroad and you want to legalize a document to be used in Romania, you will have to perform the procedure of affixing an apostille or consular legalization, as appropriate, for that document can be valid at the Romanian authorities.

If you are in doubt regarding the necessity to affix an Apostille or to perform the procedure of consular legalization, you can ask the beneficiary of the documents (authority/institution in Romania where you will use the document) if these formalities (apostille or consular legalization) are required or not.

There are certain countries with which Romania has signed treaties/conventions providing exemption of consular legalization or other formalities, so that the documents are valid in Romania without fulfilling any additional formality (neither consular legalization, nor apostille) Also, you can send us an e-mail or you can call us and we will explain to you the procedures to be followed for using in Romania official document issued by foreign authorities.

If you do know what is the competent authority for affixing the Apostille in the country where you live or what is the competent authority for performing the consular legalization in the country that issued the document, please contact us and we will try to provide you such information.
